Behind the Tripod of Plataia stands another plinth, once topped by
the votive of the Gold Chariot of Helios, dedicated in the 4th
Century BC by the Rhodians. To the west, the Votive of Daochos II
once stood, with statues that have been recovered (more). The Stoa of Attalos I, a king of
Pergamon, stands to the northeast, dating from 220 BC.
At the top of the slope, the bases of ruined votives and offerings
now stand. It was here that the Tripods of Gelon and Hiero,
Syracusan Tyrants, were once located. Connected to the base of the
tripods was the Acanthus Column, decorated with dancing women
(more). On the left are the bases which once held the statues
of Eumenes and Attalos, along with a now ruined treasury. |
