To the right of the path is the stone base upon which the Bronze Bull
of the Corcyraeans once stood. Dedicated in 480 BC, the bull was made
by Theopompos of Aegina.
This monument, the Offerings of the Arcadians was built in 369 BC
to memorialize a successful invasion of Laconia by the Arcadians. Nine
statues stood atop the bases, including Apollo, Victory, and various
Arcadian heroes. Beyond, on a base, stood a statue of Philopoemen.
The Admiral's Monument commemorates the Spartan triumph over the
Athenian fleet in 404 BC at the naval battle of Aigos Potamoi. The
monument consisted of statues of the Lacedaimonian admirals, the Spartan
Lysander, and the gods who aided them. In all, there were 37 statues.
