The sculptures of the West Pediment of the Parthenon depicted the contest between Athena and Poseidon for dominance in Athens. These sculptures were forever broken by Morosini when he attempted to remove them. Most of the fragments were removed by Lord Elgin and are now displayed in the British Museum.
