Each September the department hosts a barbeque for chemistry and biochemistry
students. This event kicks off
the year with mixer games, crazy chemical experiments, and a barbeque. It's a great
way to
meet new classmates and professors.
Chili Cook-Off »
Who makes the best chili? Each winter our professors create their home-made chili, which students get to be the official taste-test judges as they compete for top Chili Connoisseur!
Students, on the other hand, brave the habanero pepper competition.

Senior Pizza Party »
To celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates, we host a pizza party each spring at a local restaurant. This May we also presented each student with an opportunity to leave their mark at Calvin by planting a tree on campus.
