The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department will be awarding the following named scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year. All chemistry & biochemistry majors who submit an application will be considered for all of the department scholarships for which they meet the criteria. Students are also strongly encouraged to apply for additional Science Division Scholarships for which they are eligible. These scholarships require a separate application. Students may use the same Faculty Recommendation Form for both the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department Scholarship Application and the Science Division Scholarship Application.

2008 Scholarships

The Dr. Robert J. Albers Memorial Scholarship
(additional essay required)
One award of $3,600 given to a Biochemistry major entering Sophomore, Junior or Senior year. An additional 100-200 word statement of interest in biochemistry and career plans in biochemistry is required.

The John A. Bolt Memorial Scholarship
Four awards of $2,500 each awarded to a Chemistry or Biochemistry major, entering Junior or Senior year.

The Peter and Margaret (Bell) DeHaan Chemistry Scholarship
One award of $2,800 given to a Chemistry major entering Junior or Senior year.

The Harley A. and Julia Janssen Scholarship
One award of $1,700 given to a Chemistry/Biochemistry major or minor or Secondary ed. Science major. Student must be entering Junior or Senior year.

The Bruce and Alice Klanderman Scholarship
One award of $2,000 awarded to a Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering major, entering Junior or Senior year.

The Pfizer Scholarship (additional application required)
Five awards of $4,500 each given to a Chemistry, Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering major who is entering Junior or Senior year.

The Dr. Enno and Mrs. Lucile Wolthuis Chemistry Scholarship
Three awards of $2,400 each for a Chemistry major, entering Sophomore, Junior or Senior year.
