Facilities: The Playroom

Child Therapy Playroom

The playroom in the DeVos Communication Center is used for the Early On program of Kent County for Chatterbox play groups which meet twice a week for an hour. Two-year old children work on their speech and language skills as well as their motor development with the help of a certified Speech-Language Pathologist. The children's speech and language development is facilitated through play interactions, such as singing songs, reading stories, and having conversations with the children. Speech pathology students also have the opportunity to volunteer with these groups to gain either clinical or service learning hours towards their major. It is a fun way to gain experience for pediatric practice!
