[April 2008] Senior Nate Knapper (Rhetoric/Poly Sci) has been accepted at the Michigan State University College of Law and Pepperdine University School of Law for the fall of 2008. Congratulations, Nate! Let us know which one you choose!

[March 2008] Freshman Brad Jansen (Bus Comm) reports that the Motion Picture Association of America has offered him an internship opportunity working in the Executive Office in Washington D.C. for the summer. Though the internship is unpaid, he will receive college credit for his time there. The job description focuses on Communications and Public Relations and includes office support, monitoring current trends and industry news, assisting in special projects, and research.

[November 2007] Junior Cheryl Brown (Theatre) is Calvin College's 2007 Woman of Achievement (WOA) and will appear in a YWCA booklet describing women they recognize as "women of achievement."

[September 2007] Senior Phil DeBoer (Rhetoric) spent this past summer working to represent the Communications Department on the Calvin College Orientation Board. Andy Allen, Allison Triezenberg, and Phil worked with 4 other students and basically planned and facilitated everything related to orientation. They hired the Orientation Leader staff, put together 4 Passport programs, and finished off the summer with Quest. The job as Orientation Intern required the use of written, oral, video, and theatrical communication. He reported that it was a great experience and the Orientation programs were a huge success.

[May 2007] Junior Nate Knapper (Rhetoric/Poly Sci) will be honored on Thursday, May 10 during a ceremony at the Michigan Capitol with the Frank M. Fitzgerald Public Service Award for helping to create “Curriculum Beyond The Classroom,” an innovative program for fellow interns. Nate also received the Congressman Paul Henry Integrity Award and the Daniel Rosenthal Legislative Intern Award. To read the full story click here.

[March 2007] Junior Keziah Samuel (CAS-Rhetoric) was selected for a highly competitive summer internship at Goldman Sachs in New York. On this 10-week paid internship she will work as an analyst and be mentored by experienced investment bankers there. Congratulations, Keziah!

[March 2007] Abby Zylstra ('08) reports on the details of her "fabulous" summer internship. "I'm continuing my job from last summer at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company in Grinnell, Iowa. As a writing intern for the Marketing Services department in Corporate Development, I do much of the writing for all of Grinnell Mutual's publications, including their in-house wellness and marketing newsletters, as well as their 36-page quarterly magazine."

[Nov 2006] Junior Cheryl Brown is the topic of the Grand Rapids Press article "Calvin Theater Student Has a Case of Stage Bright."

[Oct 2006] In the summer of 2006 Drew Barrow and Media Production major Blake DeYoung, class of 2008, went to Equador with Professor Brian Fuller to make a documentary for the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee.

[Oct 2006] Nominations for the 10th annual Grand Awards were recently announced and Andrew McClelland, class of 2009, received a nomination for "Best Lead Actor in a College Production" for his performance in Arcadia.

[Oct 2006] Lindsay M. Makowski, class of 2010, reports that she is working her way toward becoming a Chimes staff writer. Two articles down, and one to go!
