Look what we have accomplished.

The chart shows the increase in employment (in millions) from January 1933 to January 1936. The sign on the green door says “We need new employees.”

Over 4 million people’s comrades who once were condemned to unemployment and idleness now have jobs. There are even labor shortages in some specialties. The temporary increase in unemployment during the winter months is normal, and is not a break in the successful battle for jobs.

The chart shows the increase in agricultural production.

In the past: Thousands of farmers were driven from their farms, and farmland fell into disuse.

Today: National Socialist agricultural policy has produced a healthy rural economy. That is also in the interests of consumers in the cities. The prices of important foodstuffs would rise to unacceptable levels after, for example, a poor harvest without the reorganization of the whole agricultural economy.

The chart shows the increase in production by craftsmen.

Things are going better for craftsmen. Although a few branches are still struggling, the sense of hopelessness has vanished. Revenues have increased by 3 /2 billion marks, or 33 1/3%!

The chart shows the increase in industrial production in billions of marks.

There are no idle machines any longer in factories and plants! National Socialism does not give up, it attacks. The value of industrial production grew by 23 1/2 billion marks, which is 67%.

The chart shows the daily transportation of goods by rail or barge in millions of tons.

One thing affects another. When agricultural, crafts, and industry produce more, the rails and canals must transport more. The daily transportation of goods has increased by about 410 thousand tons, or 37%.

The chart shows the increase in sales by shops (in red) and the decline in sales by department stores (in yellow), which the Nazis tended to oppose as inimical to small shopkeepers.

And consumer purchasing? It is also gradually recovering. He who works earns money, and he who has money can buy things. The receipts of shops have on average increased, the only exception being department stores.

The chart shows the increase in public income in billions of marks.

The only thing that has helped is work, and more work! Then the people’s income rises, too. We have 11 billion marks more than in 1932, an increase of 23%. The individual is not yet earning more, or much more, since the successful completion of the battle against unemployment has kept wage levels constant, but the people as a whole has a higher income, since more people are working.

The chart shows the improvement in public finance in billions of marks.

Increased tax revenues, but no increase in taxes! That is no mystery. When production, commerce, transportation, and public income increase, tax revenues increase as well. That provides money for the fight against unemployment, and military expenditures.

The chart shows the increase in savings in billions of marks.

Savings have increased by about 3 1/2 billion marks, or about 35%. That shows the confidence millions of small savers have in the Führer’s policies. By saving, we create the foundation for further achievements and prosperity.

The chart shows a decline in imports and an increase in exports from 1934 to 1935.

We can buy only as much abroad as can be paid for by exporting the products of German labor. We have built the necessary foundation. Through far-sighted German economic policy, we have the maintained foreign commerce essential for us, despite trade difficulties, currency problems, and political boycotts. We must depend on ourselves for foodstuffs. We have to import raw materials to keep our industry and workers occupied. We have assured such imports. As the same time, we are applying German inventiveness and technology to produce our own critical raw materials.

...that is the German economy. It is no longer a pile of ruins, no longer a playground for foreign speculators who get fat while our people, starving and desperate, tears itself apart in senseless civil war because that is what class agitators lacking all conscience want. No! Today the German economy is a fruitful field for cooperative labor, honest toil, and honestly earned success. We owe these successes to Adolf Hitler’s leadership. We began with nothing but our labor and our confidence in him. We have accomplished more under three years of his leadership than we could have dared to hope. More, too, than hostile foreigners want to admit.

There are still large economic challenges before us. We will meet them and realize German socialism only if the entire German people remains united in will, strong in deed, firm in discipline, and loyal to the Führer.
