Calvin Theatre Company - 11 Grand (Awards) Years!

 

 

In 1999, David Leugs won Calvin's first Grand Award for "Scenic Design" for the Calvin production of The Physicists, directed by James Korf.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In 2000, CTC Director Robert Hubbard received the award for "Outstanding College Production" for Comedy of Errors and Micah Green received the award for "Best Supporting Actor in a College Production." Terence Schoone-Jongen won "Best Lead Actor in a College Production" in the Calvin production of Translations.

 

In 2002 the Calvin Theatre Company was recognized with 4 Grand Awards. Brian Farish won "Best Lead Actor in a College Production" for his performance in The Bourgeois Gentleman and Amanda Hutchins won "Best Supporting Actress in a College Production" for hers. Jena Cooksey won "Best Lead Actress in a College Production" for her work in The Piano Lesson, directed by Debra Freeberg. Under the direction of Stephanie Sandberg, As It Is In Heaven won the Grand Award for "Outstanding Ensemble College Cast."

Emma won the award for "Outstanding College Production" in 2003, and for her role as Emma, Tamara Goodrich took home a Grand Award for "Best Lead Actress in a College Production."


Under the direction of Michael Page, Brian Risselda won a 2004 Grand Award for "Best Lead Actor in a College Production" in Return of the Prodigal.

The Calvin production of Edith Stein garnered an additional 4 awards that same year. They were: "Outstanding College Production," "Best Director of a College Production" (Stephanie Sandberg), "Best Lead Actress in a College Production" ( Lorien Reese), and "Best Supporting Actress in a College Production" (Aileen May).

In 2005, at the 9th annual Grand Awards the Calvin Theatre Company again scored big, turning six nominations into four awards. Stephanie Sandberg's directing of Richard III won her the award for "Best Director of a College Production" as well as one for "Outstanding College Production." Under the direction of Michael Page, Jacqueline DeBoer and Becky George won awards for "Best Lead Actress in a College Production" and "Best Supporting Actress in a College Production" respectively for their performances in Jane Eyre.

 

In 2006, the 10th year of the Grand Awards, Calvin Theatre Company received an unprecedented ten nominations for the 2005-2006 theatre season. They are as follows, along with the 5 winners (out of 6 possible college category awards) noted in red:
