David: A Play with Psalms

Please email davidmusical@calvin.edu to arrange an audition time. Auditions will be in 30- minute time slots in groups of 5-8. Please prepare a monologue and 16 bars of a song from the show to present. Sheet (selections and mp3s of the songs both with and without lyrics) are available fof download in the side bar. Monologues can be downloaded here.
Please bring a resume of applicable experience (dance, music, performance, theatre) and your schedule for the rest of this semester and interim. You will need to note all conflicts with rehearsals that you have (for instance, a wedding on a Saturday in January). Students cast must be available for most rehearsals and are expected to be at all rehearsals unless they have already noted something as a conflict. We will also have music rehearsals starting the week of November 14, so please bring your current course schedule, as well. (These rehearsals will only be a few nights a week and not everyone will have to be at them.)
David: A Play with Psalms is an interim production that will rehearse 2 - 5pm and 6-10 every weeknight and Saturdays from 1-4pm. Students who are cast will sign up for CAS W42 "Scripture as Script" for course credit. Students who are not cast but who are interested in being involved are welcome to join the class. There is plenty for all to do including writing a study guide to accompany the play, helping to build scenery and costumes, assistant stage managing, and a myriad of other engaging tasks.
Performances are January 26-28 and February 2-4, 2012.

The production is accompanied by a live rock band featuring a guitar, keyboard, bass and
drums. Musicians are invited to audition on Tuesday, November 8, at 6:30 PM. Please email
davidmusical@calvin.edu to sign up for an audition time. There will not be callbacks for
musicians.
Actor/Singer Callbacks:
November 8-9, 3-6 PM
Auditionees will be notified by 9 am on November 8 if they are called back. Callbacks will include scenework, more singing (you'll learn the song there) and movement. Please wear comfortable clothing.
No one will be called back for the entire time! Please let us know in advance if you have
conflicts with callback times and we will work it out.
