Overview
The Tempest tells the tale of Prospero’s banishment by his brother, Antonio, to an enchanted island. With the help of the sprite, Aeriel, and the half fish and half man, Caliban, Prospero is able to deal with the issues of power and revenge in a surprising and satisfying manner. By raising a tempest, Prospero succeeds in wrecking on the shore of the island a ship carrying his old enemies. Though tempted to revenge his wrongs, Prospero uses his art to heal old wounds, effecting a match between his daughter and Ferinand, a son of the enemy. The condensed adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy retains the magic of his language and story.
