William And Mary

Written by Professor H.J. Van Andel

Directed by Mrs. Allen G. Miller

In the Ladies Literary Club House

On May 8, 9

Overview

This pageant depicts the struggle between Protestantism, championed by William and Mary, King and Queen of England, and Catholicism, represented by Louis XIV, King of France, the ally of the exiled King James II, Mary’s father. As in the first great struggle, in which William the Silent was the leader, the House of Orange was victorious. The victory meant the guarantee of civic and religious liberty, for the future of Europe and America.
