The Speech-Language Pathology Clinic at Calvin College offers services for preschool children with a variety of diagnoses, including delayed language, phonological/articulation impairments, autism spectrum disorders, fluency disorders and other communication impairments.
Services for school-aged children are offered during the summer semester; and on a limited basis during the school year.
Therapy services are provided by graduate student clinicians under close professional supervision by a certified speech-language pathologist. Treatment focuses on the development of functional communication skills. Each child will participate in speech-language pathology evaluations to determine their developmental strengths and challenges and also determine treatment goals. The speech-language evaluation includes hearing screening. If treatment is recommended, therapy sessions will be held once a week at the designated time throughout the semester. A commitment to attend all sessions is important for successful treatment.
