Off-Campus Programs

In addition to the standard programs, we want to mention these special opportunities for learning.

Chicago Semester
The Chicago Semester (formerly known as the Chicago Metropolitan Center) program offers qualified juniors and seniors with a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.5 the opportunity to gain a semester's credit through studying and working in Chicago. Students participate in seminars at CS's Loop Center and spend four days a week in an internship related to their career interest and academic major. For more information contact the Off-Campus Programs office.

Daystar University
Under the auspices of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), a limited number of Calvin students study for a semester at Daystar University in Kenya with over 1,300 African students from more than 20 African countries. Contact the Off-Campus Programs office for more information.

Hogesool Zeeland
This exchange program offers students a chance to live and study in the Netherlands for a semester and earn credits that will satisfy requirements for a business or economics major or minor, while gaining important international business experience. Classes are taught in English, with much of the coursework involving team projects. Calvin students typically attend HZ during the spring semester. Contact Prof. Ev Van Der Heide for more information.

Latin American Studies Program
Through the Latin American Studies Program, Calvin students have the opportunity to live and learn in San Jose, Costa Rica. In addition to their academic studies, students take part in a service opportunity and travel for three weeks in nearby Central American nations. Contact Prof. Roland Hoksbergen for more information on this program.
