We visited Vermeer which is a mid size US equipment manufactuting company with a newish operation in Beijing. They are making horizontal boring machinese there, two models. We met with the entire Beijing management team including the Chairman (calvin alum Daryl Bouwkamp) and also with the general manager and the heads of operations, IT, HR, supply chain, finance, etc. Was very educational. These are brave and clever people!

... followed by a lunch with all of them. Was very nice of Vermeer to welcome us this way. I worried that they might miss their production targets due to us!

This is how they make the noodles at this restaurent. A four foot person can make an eight foot noodle this way!
