Some of us went to the Shanghai museum our "self directed learning" Saturday. Many art pieces from the past 5,000 years. Very impressive. All explanations in English. The overall impression is that the Chinese have been amazing at writing and porcelains. Also some interesting paintings, but less rich than European of the same era, in my opinion.
The museum is in Peoples Park off Nanjing Road in central Shanghai. Very close to our hotel.
