Is biology at Calvin for you?
Are you inquisitive and enjoy learning about the natural world around you? Think about when you walk outside or take a hike. Do you look up at the tall, majestic trees and wonder why the leaves turn color or how water gets to the very top? Or are you curious about all the little critters beneath your feet? Biologists love to investigate how the natural world works and why things are the way they are.
Are you analytical, enjoy problem solving, and interested in the processes of life and living organisms? Do you enjoy the classroom, as well as hands-on laboratory and field experiences? These are important elements of studying the sciences.
Can you see yourself using a microscope and doing research in a laboratory? Do you want to work in the health care professions as a doctor, nutritionist, nurse or dentist? Or are you interested in nature restoration and conservation? All of these jobs and many more require a good foundation of biological study.
Do you find yourself wondering how your faith is compatible with—and inseparable from—your love for the sciences and learning? Just as the faculty and staff of our department are committed to faith and learning for the advancement of scientific education, research, and investigation, we hope you have the same desire to learn more about our Lord's creation.
If you answered "yes" to some or most of these questions, Calvin's biology program may just be for you!
