Program overview
Among all Christian colleges and universities in North American, Calvin is the only one with an Asian studies program of its scope and size. The program includes a general Asian studies major, Chinese and Japanese language majors and several minors.
Asian studies major
A major in Asian studies consists of at least four language courses and eight culture courses.
Chinese language major
Pursue Chinese through the 4th-year level with eight language and four culture classes, and have excellent opportunities to study abroad.
Japanese language major
Take Japanese through the 4th-year level with eight language and four culture classes, and have opportunities for study abroad through interim courses, semester-long programs and summer internships.
Asian studies minor
Earn a minor in Asian studies with the option of including language training. Six courses.
Chinese minors
Students may obtain a minor in the Chinese language or in Chinese culture study. Seven courses.
Japanese minors
Students may obtain a minor in the Japanese language or in Japanese culture study. Seven courses.
