Pat Snyder Verduin Scholarship

The college has received a gift from Mr. Calvin and Mrs. Patricia Verduin of Grand Rapids, Michigan, the income from which is used to provide a scholarship to a full-time student who is a junior or senior majoring in art. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage artists who are Christians to prepare for a life of service in the field of art directed by Christian values.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Applicant will be entering their junior or senior year.
• Applicant is a current student planning to enroll full-time the following year.
• Applicant must be an art major intending to become a studio artist or art educator.
• Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (all college classes) or higher.
• Applicants must prepare a one to two page paper describing a work of art they have created explaining their motivation for that work of art.   An image of the work of art must be included in the paper.

One scholarship of $1,000 was awarded for 2009-2010.

 

Applications for this scholarship are available from the Department of Art and Art History's website each February.
