Joel S. Vander Sloot Memorial Scholarship

Jack and Joyce Vander Sloot have established this scholarship in memory of their son, Joel, who lost his courageous battle with cancer in 2003. Joel was a 1991 graduate of Calvin who majored in Art and possessed a keen interest for photography. Mr. and Mrs. Vander Sloot have been long-time supporters of Christian education and now wish to share the blessings that God has given them to enable a junior or senior student majoring in studio art to experience a Christ-centered education at Calvin.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:
•Applicant will be entering their junior or senior year.
• Applicant is a current student planning to enroll full-time the following year.
•Selection:   first consideration given to art major concentrating in photography.
• Applicant must display some evidence of financial need.

Two scholarships of $3,000 were awarded for 2009-2010.

 

Applications for this scholarship are available from the Department of Art and Art History's website each February.
