Programs > Architecture > Pre-Architecture > After Calvin

When you apply to graduate professional programs do not make the mistake of assuming that the schools always and only give preference to students with the top grades. Although a 3.5 or higher and/or good ACT/SAT/GRE scores can be of help, the top schools select students from their pool of applicants looking to combine diverse abilities and interests to create the strongest critical learning mass so all the students learn from one another and grow together. Architecture promotes teamwork! We have had students with 2.5 to 3.0 GPA's admitted to top schools with studio mates from Yale and Princeton. These Calvin pre-arch students have performed very well and in the top of their classes in these professional architecture programs. Their strengths were in strong liberal arts degree programs, languages like Japanese, and strong portfolios. In other words, they developed their personal strengths and interests, which enabled them to succeed.
