Kayaking up the Huleia River

Haupu mountain range and the jungle at the river's edge are wonderful. PaddlersPast the thousand year old Alekoko or Menehune fish pond that is rich in myth and history that might be fun for you to read about before the trip. The Huleia is a much more private river as few companies are permitted to paddle it. There will be spots to do swim and swing on the vines.

Image of KauaiBike ride from the rim of the famed Waimea Canyon (el. 3500') down 12 miles of smooth winding blacktop all the way to the shore of the blue Pacific. 100% downhill! For the earlybird, we'll be blessed with soft low angled light that draws out the colors of the canyon-it's spectacular! We won't won't be snoozin'-We'll be cruisin'. We'll have some fresh-brewed Kauai Coffee and blueberry muffins hot out of the oven as we ride up in our van. We'll be riding through one of the most beautiful and interesting places on the planet, so of course, we'll stop along the way for photos and narrative on history, culture, folklore and legends. We'll get hands-on and identify native plants, birds and trees. As well as having a fun ride in a beautiful place you'll learn about what makes Kauai special!

The students of Kauai Community College are planning to reintroduce the art and skill of Polynesian non-instrument navigation and wayfinding to our island community. They are also integrating this with the academic arenas of science, math, history, art, and Hawaiian culture. They usually meet on Saturdays to work on the canoe It will be a good opportunity for us to learn of the ocean voyagind discoveries of the Polynesians.
