UMM EL-JIMAL PROJECT STAFF
The Umm el-Jimal Project has been a joint venture involving
dozens of archaeologists ranging from very experienced to entry
level. All have displayed unusual levels of talent and dedication.
Sadly, we mourn the untimely deaths of two staff members, Bud Haggard
and Jennifer Groot. Bud Haggard (below right), who participated
in the 1977 season, was professor of religion at Grand Valley State
College in Allendale, Michigan. Jennifer Groot (below left)
had been a stratigrapher for numerous seasons at Hesban, Umm el-Jimal
(1977, 1981, 1984), and el-Lejjun.

LABORERS
The unsung heroes of the successive seasons are the more than 100
laborers from the Umm el-Jimal village whose contributions of diligent
digging, wheeling and cement mixing now span two generations.
