Conference on the Social Impact of Christianity in Africa
There are mixed assessments and critiques of Christianity in Africa today. The number of scholarly assessments of Christianity’s social impact in African may not, however, match the rate at which Christianity is growing. To expand our understanding of Christianity in Africa, participants at this 3-day conference will not only give a more recent assessment of the dynamic of Christianity in various parts of Africa but also scrutinize works that give a historical trajectory to the growth and expansion of Christianity including its indigenous roots and manifestations.
Intellectual Diversity
Guests for this conference are selected by invitation only and come from a wide range of regions and research fields. Read more about the conference participants and our special guest and keynote speaker, Njonjo Mue, a Human Rights Lawyer and advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Critical Dialogue
Participants will share, as much as possible, their own insights and specific ways of trying to understand such a crosscutting topic. Each participant will be allowed 30 minutes to make six major points relating to the sub-theme chosen and allow for another 30 minutes of discussion. Conference abstracts cover a number of critical issues: from the gospel in Ethiopia to missionary impact in Kenya.
