The CIT accounts that you receive depend on your role at Calvin. All faculty, staff, and students receive a Novell account, a KnightVision account, and an email account.

Novell NetStorage provides internet access to files stored on Calvin's Novell network for students, faculty, and staff. That means you can access your network files from any web browser.

- Budget planning process for technology services
Calvin College provides funding for desktop computers and software through the Academic Technology Budget and the Administrative Technology Budget. These are centralized budgets, managed by CIT, that provide funding for both administrative and academic technology needs. This includes technology in public and departmental computer labs as well as Smart Classrooms.

- Calvin's personal technology purchase program
Calvin CIT works with various technology vendors to offer you discounts for personal technology purchases. In order to be eligible for these discounts you must be a current Calvin faculty, staff, student, or admitted student.

Calvin Information Technology (CIT) has established guidelines for disposal of used computer equipment.
- Recycle old personal computers/monitors
Calvin does not provide recycle service for personal computers and monitors.

- Computer labs and classrooms (facilities)
Students enjoy access to over 800 computers in campus labs and classrooms. Each residence hall complex has a lab that is open 24x7. Many classrooms are equipped with computers, projection, VCRs and DVD players for teaching and student presentation. Many technology-equipped teaching labs and classrooms are available in academic departments

- Hardware
Calvin supports both Windows and Macintosh computers for faculty, staff, and student use. Office computers are refreshed on a 3-year rotation. CIT also provides and supports printers, and telephones.
- HelpDesk
The goal of the HelpDesk is to provide the Calvin community with timely, knowledgeable, and accurate solutions to hardware, software, cable television and telecommunications needs. All of Calvin's HelpDesk staff are certified as Analysts by the HelpDesk Institute.

Ruckus is an online music service. Calvin has partnered with them to give every Calvin student, using a Windows computer, free & legal music downloads from the Ruckus library of 3+ Million songs. Alumni, faculty, and staff can join for $8.99 a month.

- Take IT Home: software for faculty & staff home use
Calvin Information Technology has opted to extend limited home use rights, in compliance with licensing agreements, to faculty and staff members of Calvin College for certain software.

- Teaching, Learning, and Training

CIT's five-member Teaching and Learning team works directly with faculty to support technology in education. The Digital Studio, skills training, and faculty development classes are examples of the Teaching and Learning team's responsibilities. Team members are available to work with faculty in developing KnightVision course content.
- Technology skills workshops
Throughout the year, CIT offers free technology workshops to Calvin faculty and staff. Faculty and staff are notified through KnightVision and the campus listserv Calvin News when classes are available.

CIT provides Calvin faculty a comprehensive exam-scoring and reporting service, using machine-readable "bubble" forms and the NCS examSYSTEM II software. Using this system you can create a variety of detailed, reports, which are provided in both printed and HTML formats , or you can save in a comma delimited data file that you can use to create your own reports.
