Advising from Jeremy D. Frens

As faculty at Calvin College, I need to advise my students about a variety of decisions. I'm treating this page and the pages linked from here as a "Frequently Asked Questions" pages. I have two sections of information here. One is a list of links of my own pages filled with various advice. The other section is a list of links to pages at Calvin College for a variety of issues.

My answers to these questions is often particular to Calvin College students, and I make no distinction when I'm being particular and when I'm not. So if you've stumbled across this page from some other school, you're welcome read what I have here, but it's up to you to adapt it to your own situation. I make you no promises, and I have no desire to adapt these pages for other schools.

I should also make a similar disclaimer for Calvin students. I'll try my best to keep these pages up to date, but for real information, talk to someone. (Note that the date at the bottom of these pages do not indicate when I wrote the page, so don't use that date as a time-test.) You don't have to talk to me, but get actual advice from someone through a face to face conversation.

Actually, the real purpose for these pages is to organize my own thoughts. I don't have the best memory in the world, so I find it useful to write things down. I figured if I wrote these Web pages, then I'd always know where they were, plus I could let others read them which might answer some questions and you won't have to bug me.

I'd love feedback on my advice here, especially if you think it's wrong. I also welcome new questions.
